Day 1: Rehoboth Beach, DE to Queenstown, MD

We began our first day with excitement and nervousness. The air was cool and sky cloudy, on verge of raining. As we made our way to the boardwalk, which was expectantly almost empty for the time of day and weather, I had to remind myself that this was the beginning of an adventure I have wanted to do for a long time. After taking some pictures and doing the customary dipping of the rear wheel we rolled away from the old Atlantic seeking the distant waters of the pacific. The Delmarva penninsula ( which I learned was short for Delaware, Maryland, Virginia), seems to be a mix of tourist venues around the edges with sprawling farmlands and quiet towns in between, making for a interesting ride. all day we had a steady, yet mild headwind which surprisingly did not cause much consternation within our attitudes. I think this was because our legs and butts were fresh. Both physically and hygienically. Long story short, We biked, we snacked, we biked, we ate, we biked, we snacked, we biked, we stopped. but here are some pics from day 1 :)

Starting was exciting, just like a day at the beach...

We dipped the wheel prior to this, we are actually running away from scary looking sea weed here

Red box seemed like a good place to take a rest. At this point my lack of training was beginning to take effect. however, some potato wedges and chocolate milk spiked with pain killer made us ready to ride the last 30 miles. Also, I hope no was wanting to return or get a movie during that hour.

Good supper for a long ride. FIVE GUYS!

We ended our ride by loading up our bike in Andrew's mom's car to cross the Chesapeake and stay at my sisters. A much needed shower and meal later, we settled to ride another day.
